Keep on Smiling – by Isagani Casimiro

OF PROBLEMS rich and poor people have them. To cry for them is bad for the health. Problems have beautiful lessons to teach us. And when we find them, kiss them goodbye and smile.
A smile opens doors of opportunities for growth and progress. It also helps the body stay young, strong and healthy – and the face beautiful.
We jog, or swim, or bike. It’s good exercise for the body. But le us not forget to exercise our face, too. How? By always smiling!
When we smile, the soft muscles and tissues of the face are stretched to the temples and ears. When we smile, people are drawn to us. Frowns and grimaces push them away.
A smile also changes our mood when we feel down. Think of anything, or anybody, or circumstance which made you smile in the past. It could be a beautiful flower you had seen for the first time in your life, or the face of Rene Requiestas, or when you forgot to zip your crotch.
A smiling face brightens up a room, changes the mood of others, and makes things happier. Stress can easily show in an unsmiling face. A smile helps to prevent us from looking tired and worn down.
A smile helps the immune system to work better. When a person smiles, his immune function improves. Thus it prevents flu and colds. Smile also lowers the person’s blood pressure.
A smiling face also releases endorphins, natural pain killers, and serotonin. Together they make a person feel good. Therefore, a smile is a natural drug.
Smiling lifts the face and makes the person look younger. The muscles and tissues are the ones performing them. If this is so, it’s time to say adieu to facelift. Just keep smiling your way through the day.
Between beauty and smile, men prefer a lady who always sports eyes that twinkle and lips that stretch to the ears. Men’s instincts are sharper than women’s when it comes to smiles. Thus, in villages where ladies seldom smile, or do not smile at all, are the ones who remain single. No man would like a wife-to-be whose face is like a Viernes Santo all year round.
People who are always smiling appear more confident. They appear more confident. They are more likely to be candidates for promotion. In the banking and airline industries, they are placed at the counter.
Job applicants should be aware of the effects of an unsmiling face before the HR manager for interview. It creates a negative impression on them. Employers want their future employees to display a happy face. It’s good for business.
A salesman cannot sell a product no matter how important an insurance policy or a car to a client without a smile. Aside from wholesome get up and gift of selling, a salesman should also possess a contagious smile. A smile softens the wallet of the customer.
A smile sends a message that “Life is good.” But the smile should be divine. We shouldn’t smile at the defect or misfortune of other people. “Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses,” wrote King Solomon (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
